For many years, I held firmly to this promise in different areas of my life. I waited on the Lord
for healing in my body. I waited for coworkers who would join me in fulfilling the calling and vision
He gave me concerning the churches in Northern Nigeria.
At times, it seemed impossible. Yet I continued praying, waiting, and trusting in the Word of the
Lord. The same Lord who gave the vision was working to bring it to fulfillment at the appointed
time.
Habakkuk 2:3 assures us that God’s promises will come to pass — they will not ultimately delay.
We pray that the Lord grants you the spirit of patience. I pray this for myself and for anyone
who is in need of endurance.
Description
Habakkuk 2:2–3
Then the Lord answered me and said:
“Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an
appointed time; it hastens toward fulfillment and will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will
surely come, it will not delay.”
Habakkuk 2:3 reminds us of the Lord's instruction concerning patience and faith.
We also see this in Isaiah 40:28–31:
“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the
earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to
those who have no might He increases strength… But those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their
strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles…”
This passage teaches us to rest in and depend fully on the Lord.
